Yep, in at first place – and leaving the competition in the dust – it’s Ke$ha. The “TiK ToK” singer has proved consistently popular throughout 2010, and she pulled almost half again as many scrobbles as the runner-up in this year’s chart. It’s a staggering performance for an act that had been pretty much written off just over a year ago.

Meanwhile Eminem strolled into sixth place with 1,299,935 listeners, more than anyone else in the chart, all of whom gave Recovery a huge bump when it dropped. He’s also the only Top 40 artist to appear two years running, rising from 33rd place last year.

The band with the fewest listeners that managed to make our top ten was British newcomers Mumford & Sons. Just 303,862 listeners generated 11,613,844 scrobbles for Sigh No More, their debut album. It was enough to push them into second place, and was a huge amount for an act that look likely to make waves around the world well into 2011.

Finally 30 Seconds to Mars took the crown of Most Popular Live Act, with 30,171 Last.fm listeners catching them at live shows throughout 2010. Those fans and more pushed them into seventh place, proving once and for all that Leto’s band aren’t just a side project for the Requiem For A Dream actor.

But don’t take our word for it; head to Best of 2010 and explore the top ten for yourself right now. If you’re a Last.fm listener you can even compare how your plays stack up against those from around the globe.
