Each week our friends at Street Date break down the hottest albums just as they drop.

[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nick Cannon[/lastfm] is taking over the world one medium at a time. Last week his comedy special premiered on Showtime. This week it hits stores. His latest video “Famous” rocked the net this weekend. His new show Son of a Gun wraps up on MTV Tuesday, and he returns to his hosting gig on America’s Got Talent in a few short days. Plus he’s hijacking MySpace!

He’s juggling all these jobs while jamming on his morning radio show Rollin with Nick Cannon every day and killing it at his fledgling countdown show Cannon’s Countdown on the weekends.

We know. Just reading the list of Nick’s projects is exhausting. As you catch your breath check out our review Nick’s latest comedy album Mr. Showbiz. We’ll take it nice and slow.

The album opens with Nick talking about his first taste of stand up success  as his latest single “Famous” plays in the background.  Coincidentally, the video for the hit single dropped this weekend.

As a kid he used to work showcases and sneak into comedy clubs to perform. Fifteen years later, the self proclaimed Mr. Showbiz/and newly minted 30-year-old takes the stage of the massive and packed theater at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Nick starts the night hot. He immediately breaks down the reason most folks know this budding star: his marriage to super diva Mariah Carey. Nick is refreshingly open and honest about their courtship. If you’re a child of the ’90s, you probably had every Mariah CD, a poster of the pint-size vocal powerhouse on your wall and belted out “Hero” every time it played in the car. So did Nick.

His cracks the crowd up with wedding stories, home life quips and a dead on his impression of his bride while recounting the reaming he received when he rolled in late one night from the club.

Buy the album for the most compelling parts of Nick’s act that center around his celebrity and his interactions with famous folks… including marriage advice from Denzel Washington. Listen to it in its entirety to hear Nick dive into potentially hot button issues including racism, homophobia and “drunk white dudes.”

Nick’s voice is fresh and fun and even when he’s serious.  Watch out for more from Mr. Showbiz.  Although he often gets saddled with the  perception of a boy toy (“I want to be the GI Joe of boy toys with the Kung Fu grip. Never drop her purse.”), his fame might one day eclipse his bride’s. He even does a pretty good rendition of “Hero.”
