Expect tight beats and intelligent wordplay on this new single from rising MC [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Gilbere Forte[/lastfm]‘s upcoming album 87 Dreams To Reality.

This young rapper has been rapping since he was old enough to admire [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]2Pac[/lastfm] and the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Notorious B.I.G[/lastfm], penning his own songs by age twelve. Now in his early twenties, Gilbere Forte has got a flow that could rival any old-schooler, and his cute face and sharp, cultural conscience style (think [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lupe Fiasco[/lastfm]) has him raking in the fans including ones outside of the hip-hop circle.

Before he caught everyone’s attention with Born in 87 – which soon after was picked up to air on MTV Jams – he did a complete 180 with songs like “Set Fire To The Rain” with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adele[/lastfm]; “The Dog Days Are Over (Seesayer remix)” with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Florence + The Machine[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Stromae[/lastfm]‘s “Alors On Danse (remix)” featuring [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kanye West[/lastfm].

But back to the track. According to his blog, “Burn Me Down” was originally released off his 2010 mixtape, 87 Dreams. “It was A LOT of people’s favorite song after the first listen of the project. So I felt it’s only right I give it new life (w/all new verses),” says the Philly rapper. And by new verses he’s referring to Young Money‘s [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Tyga[/lastfm]. He also goes on to add: “It’s more than just a new song featuring a crazy verse from the homey Tyga. It’s the realization that this music s*it is meant to be.”
