I am Merge- Bio
Born January 11th 1984, at Mt Holly New Jersey and raised in the South Bronx New York, Edgardo “I am Merge” Gonzalez has taken the term independent artist to heart. Along with writing songs and recording, I am Merge uses his skills in graphic design, web design and marketing to push his rap career forward. Creating his own website, CD covers and advertisement, Edgardo “I am Merge” Gonzalez utilizes all of his resources to pull strings and open doors for himself. When asked about the many hats he wears in the profession here’s what he had to say; “Being an independent artist in today’s world means having to multiply yourself to be able to handle the responsibilities that no one is going to do for you. Even if that means having to become your own manager and marketer, if that’s what its going to take to become successful than that’s what I am going to do!
Together with a team of other independent artist, engineers, filmographers and street team personnel they work to achieve progress. I am Merge now part of a movement called “The Faction Inc.” contributes his services as a graphic designer as well as his music for promotion and sales to the independent management/song writing company.” We are together to help each other. Everyone thinks that they can do this alone, we don’t! So we reached out to different individuals who all specialize in different areas of the business and got them on board”.
With a new release of his past song catalog to an upcoming project, I am Merge spends most of his time in the studio recording and evaluating his music before anything is released, the other half of his focus goes behind the computer designing and putting together the companies marketing plan, as well as his own. “We prepare a lot, that is one thing that we are always focused on, making sure we are ready when the next opportunity presents itself. I’m talking everything from my live performances, recording sessions, show booking to advertising, we are always working 7 days a week, non-stop!”
Although working on taking his career to the majors, Edgardo “I am Merge” Gonzalez is not waiting for the chance to fall on his lap “We will continue to work, even if we have to do this independently, we will not stop until we achieve our goals and live out our success!”
