Jim Jones recently released his version of “Harlem Shake,” but he told Jenny Boom Boom this was no remix of Baauer’s breakout single… it was Jones’ track in the first place.

Jim Jones told Jenny Boom Boom that he was on the “Harlem Shake” track for a long time before Baauer made it a viral hit. “That record was mine for a year, it was supposed to be for Pauly D’s album, and we never did nothing with it,” Jones explained.  “When I started to hear the Harlem Shake and I heard the beat I thought ‘Damn, I had that beat ready a year ago.’”

For his part, Jones didn’t seem to have any hard feelings, opting to release his own take on the track instead of starting a feud.  “I just put the record out,” he said. “I had that record before anybody even thought about that record.”
