S.B.O.E. Explains Their Journey From Fashion To A Movement To Music

Before they headed over to Club NV to party it up, S.B.O.E. stopped by the Certified Friday show to chop it up with G.Money da Prince and DJ Hawk. They talk about the full Slow Bucks movement to what made them jump in the booth themselves to release their new mixtape, “All We Got Is Us,” one of the hottest in the streets.

S.B.O.E.’s new mixtape “All We Got Is Us” has hit the streets, featuring all original music and beats, and an all-star crew, fronted by the Slow Buck founder Bucks. “You got me, Sid Bounce, my young boy Von and of course Juelz Santana,” Bucks explained, before adding the mixtape also features guest spots from the likes of Waka Flock Flame, Yo Gotti, Jadakiss, Meek Mill, Big K.R.I.T. and Rocko.

Bucks said they chose to keep the guest artist count low, so S.B.O.E.’s music would be the main attraction. “We chose people that’s around us on a everyday basis, we didn’t go out of our comfort zone,” he explained.  “And there’s us– we’re trying to present the world with our music and we didn’t want to get too caught up in other music on our record.”

Slow Bucks has been growing as a movement for several years, but the collective is gaining lots of momentum now, as their website continues to blow up and Slow Bucks apparel is seen on the backs of artists and fans alike from coast to coast. That’s good news to Bucks, who first conceived this project as something more than a business.

“Slow Bucks is really an artist development platform,” he explained. “We started Slow Bucks to create an opportunity for the people who are less fortunate to be around execs and people making thtings happen. We were always around a lot of different people, seeing things and helping create things and better situations for these people. We tried to create a platform for them, and we created t-shirts to promote the website. Us being the fashion trendy guys that we are, we made them suitable to wear with what we had on our feet. People around us started asking where theirs [were], so we started putting whole outfits on people. The demand was set.”

The music came organically as the rest of the movement grew, leading to the creation of this debut mixtape. “Me and Slow, we always played the background and created a lot of situations for a lot of the artists,” Bucks recalled. “We were messing around in the studio, then Juelz started coming in on the regular… to us, he’s considered one of the best lyrical rappers there is. [He said] ‘This is alright,’ then he started jumping on songs. From us creating this and helping Juelz create God Willin, we wanted to make this a double-dip… all these songs were done around the same time.”
