Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s The High Road Tour pulled up to the XFINITY Theatre in Hartford over the weekend. The 9th stop on their 33-city tour brought along the crème de la crème of cannabis connoisseurs, paper trails, and special guests Kevin Gates, Jhene Aiko, Casey Veggies and DJ Drama.
It was a wet night, and with ponchos in tow nothing seemed to keep concertgoers home. The rain did leave the crowd on the lawn a bit damp but the weather couldn’t stop that party, or the smoke stacks from drifting into the night air. This was actually the one time I’ve ever been a fan of second hand smoke, cough cough.
It was comfortably crowded, that or everyone was too lit to care that we were packed in like roaches. Not one person seemed fazed that the grassy hillside overlooking the stage had literally become a mudslide. Many hippies on the hill made a sport of watching the faded fall and slide into others, classic stoner fun I guess. And the white Chucks I donned, an ode to my favorite Kings of Kush, were unfortunately painted a muddy brown by the time the night was over.
Snoop and Wiz’s presence onstage was that of the illest house party you’ve ever been too. The atmosphere was laidback and fun, from the song choice of their set list to the way the pair exchanged blunts onstage. That attitude most definitely transcended into the crowd. Snoop’s classics, like Nuthin’ but a G Thang and Gin & Juice brought back the 90’s vibes, while Wiz’s Black and Yellow, No Sleep, and Bake Sale anthems got the crowd hype.
I recommend it as a must see show. Catch a contact and catch the High Road Tour in a city near you…
