John Legend has announced that he will be working with Tike Sumter and WGN America on a new show about Black Wall Street. The series will be based on the true story of the Greenwood, Oklahoma town in the 1900s that was burned down killing more than 300 people and leaving 9,000 families homeless. The affluent Oklahoma town was full of successful black doctors and entrepreneurs that was ultimately attacked by white rioters.
John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Co. is currently preparing for season 2 of Underground also with WGN.
