Lil Wayne Clarifies Retirement Comments, is Done with Birdman

By Amanda Wicks

Lil Wayne is frustrated over the situation with Birdman and Cash Money Records, so much so that he tweeted that he was “done” on September 3rd, causing many to speculate whether he would be retiring from rap.

Lil Wayne appeared on Undisputed today and put those rumors to rest. He’s not retiring. He just let the heat of the moment get to him. “I’m a Libra,” he explained. He notes that as a cliche Lirba’s are “known to not have real emotions. We’re the only zodiac sign without a heart or soul, only sign that’s just a symbol. So in a sense as a scale, we have to let something get all the way down there for it to tip over, for us to boil over. I was at the tipping point.”

When asked directly by Shannon Sharpe if he would work with Birdman again, assuming the money issues could be resolved, Wayne clearly answers “no sir.”

Later in the interview Skip Bayless brought up Colin Kaepernick, and the issue of race in America, specifically Wayne’s audience, and what white kids loving hip hop means for the bigger picture.  Wayne acknowledges that what he’s about to say may be taken out of context, but articulates what his diverse audience has meant to him.

“I don’t want to be bashed, cause I don’t want to sound like I’m on the wrong [side], if there is a side,” said Wayne “but I thought that was clearly a message that there was no such thing as racism. I thought that was a perfect example.”

“I don’t have this type of crowd or that type of crowd,” he continued “my audience has always been everybody. Thank God.”
